About Saffrons Park Nursery in Eastbourne

We are a forest school and curiosity approach-based nursery in Eastbourne. We care for children from 6 weeks to 4 years and provide a range of age-appropriate resources and activities to encourage their development right up until they are ready to join school.

Our

Philosophy

Our philosophy is based on learning and creativity. By blending indoor and outdoor classrooms and environments in a home-away-from-home environment, we are able to create a space where children feel empowered and ready to learn.

Who

We Are

Saffrons Park Nursery got its start in Eastbourne in 2010 by Sarah Putland. We decided to do things a bit differently at Saffrons Park Nursery by creating a space that fosters early learning in a fun and safe environment where children from 6 weeks to 4 can explore the world around them.

We believe our innovative approach gives children a bright and positive start in life as we encourage both exploration and discovery as well as emotional intelligence and building friendships.

0-18 Months

A peaceful and serene space for our babies to grow and explore at their own pace. We always aim to provide the children in this room with the right environments to play, rest, and allow the natural unfolding of the child, as per the curiosity approach.

18-24 Months

At 18 months our Toddlers are encouraged to explore different facets of learning through means including construction, imaginative play, malleable materials, sand, and water. They also have access to an Atelier (an exploration and creative space), as well as overhead projectors investigating light and shadow and exploring shape, colour, and texture.

3+

The year before children go to school, they move to our outdoor classrooms for their final year in Preschool. By this point, we believe that our children are capable of directing their play independently, as well as developing their own theories and solutions to problems. Learning objectives and activities are individually planned around their interests and learning styles. Every child is assigned a family worker who is readily available to address any concerns you may have, ensuring open communication at all times.

Ateliers

In Reggio Emilia-inspired childcares, Ateliers are areas in which children’s creative experimentation can flourish through a range of different open-ended, hands-on materials and activities. Ateliers are creative studios for young children’s imagination, expression, and experimentation that actively strive to encourage dynamic learning processes through the arts.

Merging

Teaching and Childcare

We offer a variety of programs, including age-appropriate activities for infants, toddlers, and preschool.

We believe that it’s never too early to start learning and that it’s vital to always present opportunities for children to learn and grow as soon as they start at our setting.

By developing our programs with curriculum experts and childcare specialists, we’ve been able to hone in on what makes early education a success and created a learning program that allows our children to enter school seamlessly.
